Willow-leaved Hakea                                       Hakea salicifolia

 Hakea salicifolia is a large, bushy shrub or small tree up to 5-8 metres high and it lives for around 12 to 14 years.

Flowers are white and grown on the leaf axils. They generally appear in late winter to spring.

​The flowers develop into  woody seed   pods about 20mm long and containing two winged seeds. This is the usual number for all Hakea species.

​

The pods do not shed the seed until environmental stresses occur. This could be a drought or bushfire.
