Swamp Mahoganies can live for at least two hundred years.
After bush fires they regenerate by growing shoots from epicormic buds on the trunk.
The grey-headed flying fox eats the flowers, and koalas eat the leaves.

Insects, such as psyllids, Christmas beetles and cicadas live on the tree and the larvae of the small staghorn beetle lives and pupates within the thick bark.
