Sunshine wattles grow in heath, woodland and forest and in a range of soil types and topography, often in sandy soils on sandstone. It is found from northern NSW to Tasmania.

It flowers in Autumn and Winter and its branches provide some cover for smaller animals and perching options for small birds.

Bees and Butterflies feed on the flowers, sap sucking insects attach themselves to the branches and birds eat the seed pods.
