Spotted Gum Corymbia maculata
Corymbia maculata is a tree that typically grows to a height of 45 –60 m. It forms a lignotuber, a rounded section on the base and sides of the trunk and if the tree is burnt in a bush fire and its leaves are gone, it will quickly grow new shoots and leaves from its lignotubers.
It has smooth mottled pinkish grey or bluish grey bark, dimpled in many paces and this is often shed in small, irregular flakes. They flower during Autumn and Winter.
The timber of spotted gum is strong, and used in construction, often for flooring and in boat building.
Spotted gums are resistant to termites and have few hollows for birds, micro bats and other animals.

They prefer to grow in moist but well drained clay loam soils . Where do you find them here?
