Snake Vine                                                       Hibbertia scandens

There are two vines climbing this tree; one is the Snake Vine or Climbing Guinea Flower and the other is the Common Silkpod.

Aboriginal Australians ground the leaves and stems into a paste and applied this to ease the pain of arthritis and inflammation from injuries. The sap was widely used as an antiseptic.

The flowers have an unpleasant odour sometimes described as similar to mothballs or animal urine.
