The paper-like bark is used traditionally for making coolamons, for wrapping baked food and for lining ground ovens.  It was also used to cover shelters.

The nectar was extracted to drink by soaking flowers in coolamons filled with water and the scented flowers also produced a light to dark amber honey.

Today Paper Bark trees are grown commercially, in large plantations and oil is extracted for use as an antiseptic.
