Narrow Leafed or Stiff Bottlebrush                                    Callistemon linearis

image.png

This bottlebrush has narrow leaves with a rigid point, and, in late spring or early summer, red flower spikes .

The flowers are a shade of red, rarely green and they are arranged in spikes on the ends of branches that continue to grow after flowering.

It grows in damp situations, like this one, with water often flowing off the oval.

Birds and bees are attracted to the flowers and the flowers were soaked in water by Aboriginal people to make a sweet drink .
