Mountain Devil Lambertia formosa

Photos R Miller
Lambertia formosa is native to NSW. It gains its common name, Mountain Devil, from its horned woody seeds. These are often used to make small devil-figures.

The flowers hold large amounts of nectar and are pollinated by honeyeaters.

The nectar can be accessed by biting off the base of the new flowers and sucking the liquid. The flowers generally appear in Spring and Summer.
