False Sarsaparilla Hardenbergia violacea
Hardenbergia violacea is a common climbing/twining plant that occurs in eastern Queensland, eastern New South Wales, south-eastern Victoria and southern South Australia.
It grows in a variety of habitats but is more common in open forests and woodlands, from sea level to about 1,000 m ASL.
Its common name comes from early European settlers who used the roots as a substitute for sarsaparilla.
