Devil’s Twine begins life as a seed in the ground. The vine shoot grows and attaches to a nearby plant. The root then dies and the plant lives by suckering along the stems and branches of the host plants, spreading to the top branches and the sunlight.
There is a smaller version of the plant called the Slender Devil’s Twine that grows on lower shrubs. This is Cassytha glabella.
