Petrophile pulchella grows from south-eastern Queensland to Jervis Bay in New South Wales.

It is found along the coast and on the tablelands of the Great Dividing Range.

Plants flower in early Spring and

Summer and develop woody fruit to contain many seeds.  They remain in the “cone” until after a fire or the death of the plant.

The plant can live up to 60 years.
